H and HL hinges were used on all types of interior doors in colonial homes. Perfectly suited for closet doors, passage doors, and pantry doors. I have even seen them on large media cabinets.
These are fully hand made in a coal forge. The edges are beveled and the texture and quality of the forge work is very evident. Linseed oil is allowed to penetrate the iron and the resulting color is a natural, dark hue that shows the hand work well.
H and HL hinges are surface mounted with black pyramid head screws, which are included.
We can make special sizes or hole configurations. Contact Orion for pricing and additional information.
Other door hinges are available. We make strap hinges, pintle hinges, butt hinges, and lift-off hinges for larger doors too.
Great Hinges, December 19, 2020 By Anonymous (Laurel, MD)(Verified)
I needed a pair of hinges that looked hand-forged for a reproduction of a 15th Century English cabinet (an ambry). These were the size I needed and look the part. They went on and work great. They even included a couple of extra screws which is a nice touch, especially with small ones like these.

These hinges were just what I needed for my 15th century aumbry project , They have slightly hammered look and are blackened without being shiney. Very pleased. Delivery was fast and the pleasant lady on the phone was helpfully. Good shop!
