Below we have compiled a list of commonly asked questions we receive. As time permits we will be updating this with more of your frequently asked questions.
Is your hardware lacquered?
No, all of our brass hardware is un-lacquered on all finishes. If you want to preserve the finish you can request that your items be lacquered though. A 2-3 week lead time may apply for any hardware you opt to have lacquered. Some items are available with lacquer as an option online as well. Otherwise, contact us to discuss.
Can you match the finish on my hardware?
If you have hardware that you would like us to match, send us a photo or sample! We'll do our best to match it up. Want your finish a little lighter, darker, more shine, or less? How about custom nickel, copper, or even silver or gold plating on brass hardware? We can oblige as well. We can also re-color your brass hardware to our finishes. We're fast too-we usually ship custom colored orders the next day, if not same day. Custom plating is an additional charge and the lead time for plating is about 2-3 weeks.
How do you finish your hardware?
Our brass finishes are hand done with a dip process for deep luster. We never use spray finishes, as they don't provide the depth and life of a dipped finish. Our bright and semi-bright finishes are created by hand buffing each piece by the order. Our bright brass is spectacular and polished to a jewelry-like shine. Our semi bright finish is soft wheeled first and then brushed with a very fine wire wheel for a smooth, satin matte finish.
Could I get samples of your finishes?
You could certainly order one of our finish sample boards. Our sample boards feature our H-42 knobs in the 7/8" size in each finish available. They are available for ordering here. All boards are fully refundable if you send them back to us once you're done with them.
Are your bail pulls cast or stamped?
The majority of our pulls have stamped plates, cast bails, and turned posts. All from solid brass.
I'm missing a bail pull on my drawers, can you guys make me a replacement?
Sadly no. We're just not set up to make replacements. Keep in mind that if you're looking to reproduce a pull, there's a lot of work that goes into the production. Between designing and casting/stamping, the total cost can get pretty expensive. It is generally less expensive to replace all the pulls than to make one custom. If you're still looking to replace the pull, give us a call, we can offer you alternative replacements or refer you to places that can make you your custom pulls you need.
So do you do any custom work then?
Our custom work is limited to hand forged black iron products such as our strap hinges, butt hinges and handles as well as custom trunk and chest hardware, such as our trunk brackets and trunk corners. We work with some of the best blacksmiths to help get your design made. If you are in need of some custom black iron or trunk hardware, give us a call to discuss your design and info on prices and lead times.
When will I receive my order?
We do our best to ship all orders within 24 hours from the time you placed it. Different carriers provide different delivery times. The following map applies to UPS Ground.
If we ship to you via US Postal Service the time frames can vary as follows:
Flat Rate Mail: 1-3 business days
First Class Mail: 1-5 business days

By Phone: Give us a call toll free at (800) 754-9127. You can always reach us Monday through Friday from 8:30 am - 5:00 pm (EST). If we are here after hours, and we often are, we will answer the phone. Our phones are always answered by trained staff.
By Fax: As ancient as it may sound, yes we still have fax! Our fax number is (860) 635-6473. Feel free to fax us any order you may have.
By Mail: If you have our printed catalog we supply you with and ordering sheet at the back of the book. Feel free to mail it back to us with your order. Just remember to include a check or call us with a payment method.
By Email: Feel free to send us your orders to our email.
Online: Our website carries our entire product lines, so through here you will find the most up to date information on all our products and when you're ready to purchase, an easy ordering system will help you with our checkout process. If you have an account with us you can log in and save some time during the checkout process. Guest checkout is also available for those of you who wish to do so.
Do you offer any discounts?
Every now and then we'll offer a promotional weekend sale so keep a look out for those in the time to come. As for regular sales, we offer a volume discount to all our retail customers with savings starting on all orders $100 and over. Discounts are automatically applied and a simple percentage off your total before shipping. The discounts are as follows:
- $100 - $249 - 5% Discount
- $250 - $499 - 10% Discount
- $500 - $999 - 15% Discount
- $1,000 and up - 20% Discount
