Empire Drawer Pulls & Keyhole Escutcheons

Delicate embossed octagonal pulls, stamped and finished one at a time. 4 finishes, 2 sizes. Matching keyhole escutcheon.

On the New Yankee Workshop, Norm used 8 of these pulls on his Bowfront Chest, project #0711 in the smaller size and in the semi-bright finish.
During the 1800's, steel quality improved and tool makers were able to develop patterns that showcased their skills. Simultaneously, furniture design exploded and curved front drawers became very popular. The octagonal shape design "flows" well and is ideally suited for curved front drawers. Once the posts are tightened, the plate will contour easily.

  • Are there post holes in your furniture? The distance between them is called the boring. Learn how to measure borings »
  • Need a drawer pull for an existing piece? First measure the boring. The boring is the distance from the middle of one hole to the middle of the other. Choose your pull among those with matching borings. Then check the overall size to make sure the pull will fit on your drawer. And finally decide on the finish you prefer.
