On the New Yankee Workshop , Norm uses six H-24 pulls with the cotter pin fitting and three H-114XE keyhole escutcheons on his gorgeous Taunton Chest, project #0710.

Mixing hardware designs was very common right up until the 20th century. It is only in the last hundred years that consumers began to focus on matching things.

Pulls that fasten with cotter pins are among the earliest pulls we manufacture, dating from the 1600's. In those days, brass was very costly and large pieces of furniture used small pulls. Mixing and matching was common, and a new piece of furniture might not have hardware for a few years until an itinerant ferrier came around with some brass to buy.

Originally, these pulls mounted with cotter pin fittings. Recently, due to customer demand, we introduced a more modern version called the machine screw fitting (MSF). Once you get the hang of it, installing a cotter pin is easy, but some people prefer the convenience of a modern threaded fastener. You can order a couple of extra cotter pins to practice with if you want to try the most authentic approach.

Although the photo shows these in antique brass, they are available in dark antique, polished brass or semi-bright brass.
