Iron Pintle Hinges for Large Doors

HF-43 hinges will fit doors up to 48" wide. These straps are suitable for very heavy doors. Custom lengths are available.

Our catalog photographer, John Giammatteo, used our pintle hinges on his barn doors. Please take a look at the doors and hinges on his very large doors.

Large doors require wider, thicker, and longer strap hinges. We stock 2 widths and 2 lengths of strap hinges for large doors. The HF-43 series of hinges are our strongest hinges. They are 2-1/2" wide, 1/4" thick, and 32" long. You can use a pair of HF-43's to hang the heaviest doors up to 48" wide. To determine the width you need calculate 2/3 the width of your door. Each strap has 6 holes that are sized to go with our hand forged lag screws or carriage bolts.

The hinge pictured is a custom 48" HF-43 hinge we made for a barn here in Connecticut. That is our shop foreman holding it for me. As you can see, it is a big heavy hinge, and can be used on the heaviest of doors.

HF-43 straps are all made with 7/8" barrels and will fit our HF-57 jamb mounted pintles.

We will add or subtract $12.00 per inch for HF-43 in accordance with the lengths you have chosen; and we will email you with a ship date. Special lengths normally take 2-4 weeks. Shipping remains our standard $5.00 charge for all domestic(US) orders.
