Here is a hanging cupboard made from tiger maple. Although James often builds painted furniture, he is beginning to branch out into new styles. Here he uses our
rat tail hinges to hang the door. You can contact James at sls58@msn.com.
The Salisbury Artisans is housed in a rather significant old factory. With roots in the 19th century, it has been in use since the 1920's to make a variety of wood products, including cutlery handles and treenware. Today it is the home to David Bowen's furniture shop. The small showroom features the pottery of Bridget Duxbury, and the paintings of William Ward Beecher. Hours are by appointment.

D. Andrew Kates, Cabinetmaker builds fine handmade reproduction Shaker, Queen Anne, primitive, and related 18th and 19th century furniture and cabinetry. This Shaker sewing cabinet has a pull out work surface and is made from figured bird's eye maple and cherry, with a beeswax finish.
Although Kates uses hand carved walnut knobs on this piece, many of our customers use our
maple knobs and finish them with a color that complements their project.
This is an old dresser that we bought at a tag sale for $10.00 many years ago. It had that streaky white antiquing paint all over it, and was quite ugly; but in the days when any bureau was better than no bureau and $10.00 felt like enough to spend, it was adequate. About 15 years ago, we got tired of looking at it and had it refinished. Well, this was a real case of a prince masquerading as a frog. It is made from wide, figured birch boards, that are probably lots older than the chest. The chest is a factory made piece from about 1900, and it refinished very well. We used our
H-37 drawer pulls (antique finish) on it, along with a
keyhole escutcheon and I love it.

Cherry has a wonderful trait, its color deepens with age and changes with exposure to light and the conditions it lives in. Cherry is truly a living wood, one with character and texture. Taylor Woodwork's chest on chest is quite lovely and certainly provides ample storage.
Drawer pulls used: CH-6 in antique brass.

Ian Ingersoll Cabinetmakers do many different kinds of woodworking including architectural millwork, furniture, clocks, chairs, and cabinetry. This bed is made from curly maple and has a very durable finish on it. It feels smooth and silky to the touch, yet seems rock hard. The bed bolt covers shown are our
H-33 in the antique brass finish.
We found this old chest in an attic somewhere, and then we painted it red and put
VT-16 drawer pulls in the antique brass finish on it. This old bureau sure did get a face lift. I use it in the guest room and store out of season clothing in it. It is amazing what a little hardware can do to improve an otherwise unexciting piece!
