Arts and Crafts furniture became popular in the early 1900's. Gustav Stickley, William Morris and the Roycrofts changes furniture design radically and that influence continues to this day. Designers moved away from the flamboyance of the Victorian era towards function, durability and strong design. Joinery was often exposed, and oak was the dominant wood. Original hardware was hammered and very dark in color. More popular today than ever, this hardware flies off our shelves.
