Padlocks

PDLK-1 is a japanned padlock - Many old locks were japanned with black enamel, both for beauty and to prevent corrosion. The protective keyhole cover is brass, and each component is fabricated by hand in the same way a period padlock would have been. Special order, please allow six weeks for delivery.

PDLK-2 is a whitesmithed padlock - Whitesmithing is a laborious process that is the epitomy of smithing. A whitesmith forges and does all the same things a blacksmith does, but then hand files all of the dark surfaces to a gleaming white color. The item is then waxed for corrosion resistance, and its' sheen simply glows. Special order, please allow six weeks for delivery.

PDLK-3 is a small brass padlock - Padlocks of this style were used for specialty trunks, like a makeup artist's kit, a painter's set, or a surveyor's toolbox. Each internal piece is hand fabricated and fitted together, and every lock is unique. Special order, please allow six weeks for delivery.
