Delicate embossed octagonal pulls, stamped and finished one at a time.
During the 1800's, steel quality improved and tool makers were able to develop patterns that showcased their skills. Simultaneously, furniture design exploded and curved front drawers became very popular. The octagonal shape design "flows" well and is ideally suited for curved front drawers. Once the posts are tightened, the plate will contour easily.

I thought these would be a heavy brass pull and backplate. Instead they are very thin and feel fragile and almost plastic. I'm returning them.
Note from Horton Brasses: Hepplewhite and Empire pulls are very authentic traditional pulls. The originals were made, 200 years ago, by pressing very thin metal into very complex shapes. As the originals were, ours are thin. They should be. The quality is in the detail of the pattern, not the thickness of the material.
