These small, plain brass pulls are said to be the earliest shape of the post and bail type of hardware, and they are seen on a Massachusetts high chest of drawers  c. 1725-1740 at Winterthur.

During the early 1700s, furniture continued to become lighter and more comfortable in design, especially under the influence of the Dutch style.
