Description

These small, plain brass pulls are said to be the earliest shape of the post and bail type of hardware, and they are seen on a Massachusetts high chest of drawers  c. 1725-1740 at Winterthur.

During the early 1700s, furniture continued to become lighter and more comfortable in design, especially under the influence of the Dutch style. Room sizes also diminished, so pieces of furniture didn’t need to take up as much space. Also, Queen Anne introduced the custom of social tea drinking, so movable chairs and tables became necessary. The hardware in our collection reflects the graceful, detailed features and uncluttered lines of the period and are sure be right at home on your furniture.
