Description
The HF-49 Black Iron Tool Chest Hinge The HF-49 is a specialized evolution of our classic blanket chest hinge, specifically reimagined for the modern woodworker. Inspired by the Anarchist’s Tool Chest and designed by Horton Brasses, these hinges solve a common workshop dilemma: how to mount a traditional strap hinge without sacrificing valuable real estate on the underside of your lid.
By shortening the strap to just 2″, we’ve created a hinge that provides the heavy-duty strength of hand-forged iron while leaving plenty of room to mount saws, squares, and other essential tools inside your chest lid. Hand-made one at a time by our smith in Tennessee, these hinges feature a traditional heat-and-oil finish—no paint, just the raw, honest texture of wrought iron.
Specialized Design: Short 2″ strap allows for interior lid tool mounting.
Hand-Forged Quality: Individually hammered iron from Horton’s Forge.
Functional Fit: Designed for 3/4″ to 7/8″ thick wood; the bend is mortised flush for a professional finish.
Sold as a Pair: Includes two hinges and all required fasteners.
