Long, narrow, wrought iron straps for pintle hinges, these were common in New England. The HF-40 straps we keep in stock fit doors approximately 36" wide. These wrought iron strap hinges are suitable for interior or exterior applications.
Our iron is hand forged in the traditional manner. The black color comes from heat and oil. If wrought iron strap hinges are used outdoors, they will rust. If you are using any hand forged iron outside, please see our care and maintenance page here. You can choose to let the iron rust, or you can wax or oil it, or paint it to preserve it. We are happy to paint the iron for you, just let us know when you order; either on the phone or in the special instructions section of our order form.
