Our ball catches are high quality, spring loaded brass hardware. Machined brass casing and receptacle, stainless steel ball, and a copper spring mean no corrosion even in marine environments. Each ridge in the case is slightly larger than the ridge below so that a snug press fit can be achieved.
Once installed, our ball catches are a joy to use. To install, carefully establish the depth you need. Ball catches will press fit snugly into the hole. The size of the drill bit is debatable. Some people use spade or forstner bits, while others have better luck with regular drill bits. Hardwoods and softwoods respond differently but 7/16" bits work best for most woods. No matter which bit you use, make sure you test on scrap wood before drilling in your final piece. Large doors require two per door, one on the top and one on the bottom; but smaller doors can be aligned with only one.
