Bed bolt covers hide the holes where the bed bolts enter the bed posts, and do so in a beautiful way. Beds need tightening periodically, and the covers can be swung up and exposed for tightening.
This bed bolt cover is an exact copy of an original dating to the American Federal period. It is, as they always have been, by stamping a very intricate pattern into very thin metal. Each one is a work of art.
It is thin metal-if you are looking for something thicker we would suggest the H-33 or H-120.
My great grandfather, Frank A. Horton, was an extraordinary diesinker. As a young man, he handcrafted dies and punches used to produce the finest silverware. Later in life, he turned his talents to producing furniture hardware.
He knew that the finest stampings require artistry in steel. A detailed stamping uses a die carved from the tool steel. The die contains every detail of the stamping: from the largest leaf to the smallest kernel of wheat. For the very best stampings, a punch must also be carved in steel with each detail reversed, and a few thousandths of an inch smaller to allow for the thickness of the metal. This process-diesinking-requires weeks of painstakingly precise work. It is a trade that, unfortunately, nearly vanished. Frank Horton made all of our Federal period dies in the late 1920's and into the 1940's. We still use them today. We owe him our thanks.

This bed bolt cover was perfect for my project, looks better than expected, finish is dark contrasting perfectly with the white oak I’m using. Very study. Will definitely order again
